St. Paul – Republican Party of Minnesota Chairman Ron Carey tonight issued the following statement regarding Al Gore’s endorsement of Al Franken.

“Tipper Gore and Al Gore were right when they condemned Franken’s vile and demeaning humor directed at the daughter of Newt Gingrich.  Regardless of age, regardless of party, regardless of standing, Al Franken has a pattern of offensive and cruel humor at the expense of women. 

Not that Dave Letterman should have a problem with Franken on that front.

AND

 ”And so basically, what it looks like is going to happen is that Libby and Karl Rove are going to be executed” because “outing a CIA agent is treason,” left-wing author and radio talk show host Al Franken asserted Friday night, to audience laughter, on CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. Franken qualified his hard-edged satire: “Yeah. And I don’t know how I feel about it because I’m basically against the death penalty, but they are going to be executed it looks like.” Franken later suggested that President Bush is at risk of receiving the same punishment, since Karl Rove likely told him what he did, but he added a caveat: “I think, by the way, that we should never ever, ever, ever execute a sitting President.”

AND

As reported by Tom Curry of MSNBC, Al Franken, in criticizing Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, said: ‘Being a racist and a sexist was a good calling card for the Reagan administration.’

And

“Al Franken, one of the original writers for “Saturday Night Live,” has been known in recent years for his left-wing activism, with books like “Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot” (Rush is now quite trim) and “Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right.” Others have picked apart the errors of his books and observed that he is more nasty than funny — hardly a latter-day H.L. Mencken. As “National Review” editor Rich Lowry observed, “Comedians who aren’t funny have to become political spokesmen — thus Al Franken’s new career.”

AND

“I’ll tell you what a lot of people are thinking, and that is it looks like things are going to be over and we are going to get the clown from Minnesota,’’ Senator Imhofe said.

“They are not going to get more than 35 votes.’’

Asked if he was referring to Al Franken as the clown from Minnesota, Inhofe confirmed he was.

“I didn’t mean to be disrespectful. I don’t know the guy, but … for a living he is a clown,’’ the senator said.

“That’s what he does for a living.’’

YET BRYAN BROWN IS UNFIT TO BE LICENSED AS AN INDIANA ATTORNEY DUE TO HIS ACTIVISM ON THE RIGHT?  UNFIT TO CONTINUE A 12 YEAR CAREER AT LAW SO HE CAN SUPPORT HIS SIX DEPENDENTS?

Spending on Taxpayer-Funded Trips Rises Tenfold; From Italy to the Galápagos

WASHINGTON — Spending by lawmakers on taxpayer-financed trips abroad has risen sharply in recent years, a Wall Street Journal analysis of travel records shows, involving everything from war-zone visits to trips to exotic spots such as the Galápagos Islands.

The spending on overseas travel is up almost tenfold since 1995, and has nearly tripled since 2001, according to the Journal analysis of 60,000 travel records. Hundreds of lawmakers traveled overseas in 2008 at a cost of about $13 million. That’s a 50% jump since Democrats took control of Congress two years ago.

SUCH CORRUPTION (YES, IT IS CORRUPTION) ALMOST BROUGHT DOWN THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UK LAST MONTH.  LUCKY FOR CONGRESS THE AMERICAN MEDIA IS RUNNING INTERFERENCE FOR THEM — SINCE THE CORRUPTION COMES FROM THE LEFT AND BOUGHT-AND-SOLD MIDDLE.

I (Bryan) attended a seminar put on by the National Association of Attorneys General in Washington, D.C., a few years ago.  The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) sent some attorneys over to brief us on the ever growing problem of identity theft and bank fraud.  They spoke of biometrics — systems that tied identify directly to the person.  Physical descriptions have been so used since the dawn of time.  (Cain?  Oh, he is the fellow with the pronounced brow ridge over there.  Genesis 4:16)  Gender (assuming there are only two), height, weight, eye color, etc.  In the last century we discovered finger, thumb and hand prints. After that it was iris patterns and facial recognition software. 

Most all of this was discussed by the FTC agents.  They then spoke of a future system that would guarantee that merchants would never be fooled by identity theft, assuring a much more certain economy.  Especially for online trading.

Afterward I sought them out and asked this question:  ”Given personal computers with fingerprint access, am I correct that all of the technology now exists to solve this problem, it is only the political will to make it happen that is lacking?” 

Yes, was the reply.

And, I asked, “is that political will not a concern about a Big Brother State, and especially given the writings found in the last book of the Bible about a mark to buy and sell?”

Yes, they admitted, that is the source of much of the social resistance to biometrics.

I then told my friends that the system would come out of the East, for Asia had no such platform of individual rights, fear of Big Brother and concern about divine revelation via the Bible.

At the risk of thinking stereotypically, I have to share my opinion that this verse just does not mean all that much to the governments of China or India:

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name…and his number is Six hundred & sixty-six. (Rev.13:15-18)

Click here for a news report on that I see as a major plank in the the soon coming global biometric plan.  It is already begun in China and India.  Here is how it will spread:   First on paper, and then as implants.  The global positioning satellites are flying overhead.  The technology is here.   As “terror” and identity fraud spreads across the dying West such biometrics will also spread.  First as the “census” to get all enrolled, just like before the first coming of Christ, and then as a database tied to the government’s internet to track us all for purposes of social control.

Need some inspiration after all of that?  May I suggest a careful reading of this?

Helping Anne get it right (er)

I had promised commentary on my Princess Bride’s previous letter.   I (Bryan) in blue, Anne in red.

 

Dear friends,

***

The *** bar application for Bryan [has been] unusually expensive and time consuming, but he has patiently done all *** have asked of him. Bryan actually completed all the *** required testing and interviews by the end of 2008, and hoped to take the February bar exam.

 

***  ACTUALLY, I have taken strong issue with some of the process, slowing down forward progress to ensure that the Indiana Constitution and considerations of due process are well respected and adequately explored.  Anytime the government turns to the soft sciences and subjectivist scientists there is a great risk that politics can enter the arena.  This is especially the case when political correctness is near the docket, as it ever is when government administrators are involved these days.

 

Did I see “these days?”  I meant “these days” as to the Christian Right.  The “these days” of the Marxist Left were fifty years ago.  Back in that day those who were card carrying Marxists could not become licensed attorneys.   They have come along way, baby!  Now a card carrying Marxist could even grow up to become, say, the President of the United States. 

 

Here is the case that turned the worm for card carrying dialectical materialists (ie marxists):

 

“‘Mere unorthodoxy (in the field of political and social ideas) does not as a matter of fair and logical inference, negative ‘good moral character.”  Schware v. Board of Bar Examiners, 353 U.S. 232, 238-239, 77 S.Ct. 752, 755-756, 1 L.Ed.2d 796. 

Mr. Schware was a card carrying communist, and due to that fact found himself outside the profession back in the 1950’s. Here is his rap sheet according to the nation’s highest court: 
The State contends that even though the use of aliases, the arrests, and the membership in the Communist Party would not justify exclusion of petitioner from the New Mexico bar if each stood alone, when all three are combined his exclusion was not unwarranted. We cannot accept this contention. In the light of petitioner’s forceful showing of good moral character, the evidence upon which the State relies-the arrests for offenses for which petitioner was neither tried nor convicted, the use of an assumed name many years ago, and membership in the Communist Party during the 1930’s-cannot be said to raise substantial doubts about his present good moral character. There is no evidence in the record which rationally justifies a finding that Schware was morally unfit to practice law.” Id, 353 U.S. at 246-47 

 

Thus being a communist, even a law breaking communist, should not keep one from licensure. 

 

My good people, Bryan and I are more and more convinced every day that this treatment is *** due to Bryan’s activist pro-life background and his loyal faith to the Roman Catholic Church.

*** Anne is convinced of this, as is my father.  I am yet keeping an open mind.  More on why later, but suffice it to say that I have not made this process easier for the Bar Examiners, and, as I have stated before, I share the blame for some of the delay. And …. I did not attend law school in Indiana.  It gets worse.  I am a product of Regent University School of Law … a law school that the Left hates to welcome to any party. Put my pro-life arrests alongside my previous unsettled civil litigation (search Hill on this website) alongside my controversial work at AFA, put alongside riding with PhillKline, put alongside a strong dedication to chivalry, put alongside my strong dedication to open government and the robust exercise of the First Amendment, ;put alongside the founding of the ArchAngel Institute (search Hill on this website), put alongside my relationship with well protected abortionists (search Klopfer or Tiller on this website) put alongside a now-dismissed (last August) ethical complaint filed against me by former Kansas AG Paul Morrison (who was a tool of the Left who unseated PhillKline and terminated me before resigning amidst a sex scandal himself),  put alongside my firm stand for constitutional due process through the processing of my file put alongside my penchant for over analysis and one can find sufficient cause to excuse the time delay  – until 2009.  As I have said repeatedly, I have not made this easy for the Indiana authorities.  Not by intent, but such are the cards that were dealt in this high stakes game.

More on all of this to be explained in the posts ahead of us.

While I may never be an Indiana licensed attorney at this point, the study of why is a great slice of the culture war in America in this hour.  At the end of the day maybe that is all that this exercise is supposed to be, nothing more or less than a blood-stained pillar(whipping post) in an ideological desert.  I have so served as a speedbump or canary in the mines in days gone by, that is for certain. 

At this point that is how I view my travail.  Merely a study in the application of social power.  Orwell called such power “the ability to cause pain.”   Mao said all such power comes out of the barrell of a  gun — a mere question of who rode roughshod over who.  I will use this site to document the use of such power as long as the bills on this site can be paid.

My gift to posterity  — it is pretty much all that I have.

Bryan does not have a history of being a bad attorney at all, quite the opposite, in fact.

***Anne is a bit biased. In the view of Planned Parenthood I am bad by definition, and just drawing breath is, in my case, a bad act.  While with the AFA I argued Saxe v. State College Area School Districtbefore a panel led by then Judge Sam Alito.  Now SCOTUS Justice Alito then struck down that hate speech code with a decision that was later listed as one of his five most consequential as to the “culture wars.”  This anti-religious code was the ”Vermont Model” that was triumphed at the Hates Crime Summits in the late Nineties.    Rest assured that many consider me a bad person for my role in bringing down that darling of the homosexual activists.

I then saddled up as Deputy AG under the ever controversial Phill Kline.  Wow was that a rough ride!  Those who pledge allegiance to Reproductive Rights as the most important and fundamental of rights thus consider me bad by association.  Just riding with Kline got many blacklisted and blackballed, including me and a very fine young investigator who I mentored at the AG’s office and attempted to save from a fate similar to mine in the months after.  

Bad and good are terms heavy with philosophical presuppositions. My wife considers me quite good.  The late George Tiller considered me quite bad, as did the Wichita Eagle, Kansas City Star and abortion profiteers at Planned Parenthood. 

So am I bad or good?  

That really is the bottom line question in this hour.

Mr. Schware was good.  The jury is still out on me.

He does not fit the typical stereotype of attorneys.

*** Right, they usually put money first, I never have, with predictable results.  They usually make money.  We are nearing bankruptcy.  They usually live an easy, rather predictable life.  My road is one far less traveled.***

Bryan has always been thorough and diligent in his work as an attorney, and is an extremely honest person.

*** I did not pay her to say that.***

We all enjoy a good lawyer joke now an then, but they do not apply do my husband.

*** No, but I could be a great sources for a whole new line of such jokes.***

Bryan was told by an Indiana attorney he consulted that his situation is so unique because he’s not being investigated due to a drug, alcohol, sex, or gambling problem, and so the [system] just does not know what to do with him. Sadly, were he being investigated for one of the above, he would have an easier time maintaining status as an Indiana attorney in good standing.

*** True — sins of passion or excesses seem to be much easier to forgive than my sins and trespasses for chivalry.  I would be better positioned were I coming to the court after arrests as a Marxist, or arrests for numerous fraudulent acts of misrepresentation to avoid arrest, or serial adultery (no known code against that in the profession) or advancing cultural pollution such as pornography, abortion, tobacco defense, unfettered access to ammunition, fast food promotion or even, shudder, coal generated electricity.  (Tongue in cheek for the latter categories)

I have done none of those, but still face terrific headwinds. 

Bryan has been questioned and critiqued in a manner that more than suggests his loyalty to the Roman Catholic Church and his activist pro-life background are *** [what some] find most troubling about him.

*** You will probably have to read my book to get all of the stories that will therein be told as to Anne’s point here.  Some amazing discussions have been had.

Suffice it to say this — were I coming from the Left I could make very good use of this well worn quip:
In West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette, 319 U.S. 624, 642 (1943) , this Court declared:‘If there is any fixed star in our constitutional constellation, it is that no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion or force citizens to confess by word or act their faith therein.’ 

I think *** are afraid to license my husband because they recognize that he is someone who will fight for justice for not only the unborn, but for all Christians, and for the Constitution of the United States. These are not the groups of people that *** [some special interests] wants defended in Indiana, which is cause for grave concern.

*** My Anne is quite the fighter.  Again, if only I were in Mr. Schware’s position!  Then I would be golden, er make that Soviet Red, for I would be no threat to the modernist status quo.  I am a threat, and that has caused me problems throughout my adult life.  It just seems that some whom I meet are heck bent on helping me  confess to their definition of what is “orthodox in politics, nationalism, religion, or other matters of opinion” or, even at times, coerce me ”to confess by word or act their faith therein.”  OR be termed mentally unstable, that is. ***

 Little Jude needs my attention, so I will keep this short.

*** Little Jude is not so little anymore!  Anne is raising a giant.  His homebirth was documented on this website.***

Bryan and I ask you to join our family in this spiritual battle that is waging between us and ***, and that mirrors many of these types of battles to come, unless we all just decide not to fight these battles! Bryan is in a very unique place right now, and we feel it is exactly where God wants him, and we just need your continued prayers to see this battle through to the end!

*** Yes, please keep praying for us.   We really, really need the prayers on our behalf.  It is all that we are surviving on at the present time***

Please pray with us that Bryan will be allowed to sit for the Indiana July bar exam, and that if that is not to happen that we will be blessed and guided by our Lord Jesus Christ in pursuing justice in this matter!

Independence Day Celebration at the Institute

          Saturday, July 4 is tea time!!!

Join us at 827 Webster Street at high noon on July 4th for a low tea.  (Iced tea that is!)

It is our understanding that no other tea party is planned for the Fort, and so we will enjoy some patriotic music, readings and then gather at  the Courthouse to pledge our allegiance to the Republic together.  

Come by to network with like minded citizens and wet some tea bags for the good of the Republic. 

We will be running down current projects of the Institute before and after our commemoration, so please drop by if you are interested in what the Institute is all about.

Upon us falls the duty of preserving the past, for post-modernity only wants to pave it over with a New World Order.

The Institute will mark this anniversary of sacrifice with patriotic readings by John R. Brown of the Donegal Corridor, LLC and others.

Saint Thomas More, pray for us!!!

Today is a special day on the Catholic calendar, for it is a day that honors a great leader in the Church, a great man who paid the ultimate price to follow his conscience.

That man is Thomas More, former Chancellor of England.

If you know little of him then do yourself a fine favor and rent this movie.  You really owe it to yourself to exchange heroes like Arnuld and The Rock and all of that rot for men of character like Sir Thomas More.

We have posted on Sir Thomas in the past.  Those posts are at the end of today’s reflection for any who want to read more on this great example.

Since I (Bryan) first learned of Thomas More (during the Rescue days) I have looked up to him. I watched A Man for All Seasons the night that I was received into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church.  He has often inspired me.  I am no Sir Thomas More.

Allow me to say it again:  I am no Saint Thomas More.

That said, there are a few parallels that come to mind, especially as I spend much time writing in my basement after my legal career in government ended.  He spent much time writing in the Tower of London after his final run-in with the authorities over conscience issues.  I am spending much time writing in my basement.   His career at the law then ended abruptly.  I am hoping that, with his aid, mine might yet be viable.

Here is a fine website for Saint of the Day information.  I am using it in red today, with blue comments, to make my point and to honor a very honorable Christian, Saint Thomas More.

St. Thomas More, Martyr (Patron of Lawyers) St. Thomas More was born at London in 1478. After a thorough grounding in religion and the classics, he entered Oxford to study law.

 

**My grounding was in Baptist Sunday School as a youth (thank you, Anna Jury, RIP) and then two Bible Colleges and then the dominant religion of the age (cultural relativism) at Indiana University and then the study of law at Regent — think of it as Oxford on the Chesapeake.**

 

Upon leaving the university he embarked on a legal career which took him to Parliament.

 

*** Mine took me to the Deputy Attorney General’s desk in Kansas, after having argued successfully before the Second, Third, Eighth, Ninth, Eleventh Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, Illinois and Kansas Supreme Courts, and many lesser courts***

 

 In 1505, he married his beloved Jane Colt who bore him four children, and when she died at a young age, he married a widow, Alice Middleton, to be a mother for his young children.

 

***The loss of a wife who it the mother of your children is sad, very sad, this must have placed a tremendous burden upon Sir More ***

 

A wit and a reformer, this learned man numbered Bishops and scholars among his friends, and by 1516 wrote his world-famous book “Utopia”.

 

**** I have not quite yet finished my book, but I have put far more copy out than Sir Thomas left behind!  And I do have some smart friends, and maybe even a Bishop or two!*** 

 

He attracted the attention of Henry VIII who appointed him to a succession of high posts and missions, and finally made him Lord Chancellor in 1529.

 

*** I attracted the attention of Phill Kline, who appointed me as a Deputy AG, heading up the Consumer Protection and Antitrust Division in the Kansas Office of Attorney General.  When Planned Parenthood screamed about me being appointed  it was that I had become “one of the most powerful attorneys in Kansas a mere eleven years after they and George Tiller had engineered my incarceration in Kansas for civil contempt.  (I was later exonerated.)   

 

While I did enjoy the benefit of pretty much carte blanchesubpoena power while in that position, I was never found to have abused it.  Thomas More’s fine example guided me (“I would give even the Devil the benefit of the law.” Click for that scene from the movie) More would not have misused it either.**

 

However, he resigned in 1532, at the height of his career and reputation, when Henry persisted in holding his own opinions regarding marriage and the supremacy of the Pope.

 

***Sir Thomas lost everything for principle.  He stood when others cowered.  What a great and godly example to us all!  I did not resign, I was terminated from state employ.  That story and my face to face interview with the man who terminated me — and where he went from there — is more dramatic than much of Shakespeare.  But I cannot digress into that today.  I have not resigned from the pursuit of an Indiana law license, even though many have advised me to do just that, for I, too, stand on principle.  I will, like Saint Thomas and St. Paul, use all legal appeals open to me to fulfill what I interpret to be God’s Will.***

 

The rest of his life was spent in writing mostly in defense of the Church.

In 1534, with his close friend, St. John Fisher, he refused to render allegiance to the King as the Head of the Church of England and was confined to the Tower.

 

*** With the Left having pretty much rendered me too controversial to hire, I have been confined to house arrest.  It is hard to buy and sell in America without the mark of allegiance to the dominant cultural paradigms, and I have refused that mark.  This refusal has caused me to be isolated from America’s middle and at great odds with its Left.***

 

Fifteen months later, and nine days after St. John Fisher’s execution, he was tried and convicted of treason.

 

**** That was the charge of treason against an order that was in the process of committing treason against its own history.  Treason against an order that cared not one whit about treason against principle, but was ready to behead for treason against politics. Treason, the allegation that the dissident does not care enough for the laws of his oppressors, is the favorite charge of oppressive regimes.***

 

He told the court that he could not go against his conscience and wished his judges that “we may yet hereafter in heaven merrily all meet together to everlasting salvation.”

 

*** And this is why he is a Saint!  What a magnificent stand!***

 

And on the scaffold, he told the crowd of spectators that he was dying as “the King’s good servant-but God’s first.”

 

***  Some of the best last words ever spoken.  All authority arises from God, is delegated through the State and Family.  It is so harmful when the State refuses to fall into line and goes about trying those loyal first to God for treason and such.***

 

Saint Thomas More was beheaded on July 6, 1535. His feast day is June 22nd

In defense of Hoosier due process, installment #1

This is Bryan’s update submitted in response to his wife’s previous postings:

My dear Anne was quite worked up about me not sitting for the Indiana bar exam in February, 2009.  She truly thought — as did I — that I would be cleared to so sit. 

I had to recently inform her that I had been told that I would not sit for the July bar either.

That hit her very hard.

She has been called to a difficult post in being married to me, for the obvious reason of the Left finding me so enjoyable to publicly horse whip and for other, more personal reasons.  Please forgive her emotionalism.  She made many sacrifices to put me through law school, and we have made many sacrifices along the way. 

She began to break when I informed her that the black letter law on bar admissions is that attorneys licensed in a state who have practiced enjoy a presumption of good moral character and mental fitness. 

She then decided that “the fix is in” as to me and Hoosierland.  Many others have told me the same.

I yet hold out hope that they are all wrong and that Hoosier due process will yield a just result.

Realize that my Hoosier travail arrived only two years after I had subjected myself to a full and complete investigation by the Missouri authorities.  They looked hard into my past in 2005 -2006, culminating in the decision to allow me to sit for the Missouri bar exam.  That decision and investigation took much longer than it should have (such seems to be my fate) and the position that caused me to first apply was filled by the time that the Missouri authorities finally decided to green light me.  

In other words, Missouri’s delay cost me a position — one that Anne very much wanted me to take.  (In St. Charles, halfway between her people and mine.)

As an aside, it seems that the recent delay in Hoosierland has also cost me a position. 

Sometime during that trial by fire the Missouri authorities found out that the National College of Bar Examiners had approved me — a fact that should have been good enough in my wife’s opinion.  (In fact most everybody I know thinks that should have been good enough.)  As Anne has learned, her husband is a sucker that rarely gets an even break.   As I have written here, once one stands up for the victims of the silent holocaust one is treated to the same animosity that they bear in their bodies.  I thank God that the abortion industry cannot do to me what it does to those helpless ones.  George Tiller stuck little babies in the heads and hearts with his hypodermic delivered potions, bringing on tachycardia and then death.  Me? He and his ilk were only able to hit me with $250,000 in negative campaigning, and many aggressive culture of death lawyers and the indirect control of his fellow ideologues who are in the media and government service.  (Tiller once got me thrown in jail on civil contempt for over two months — a rabbit trail that I will not take tonight.)

Formidable, yes, but still no stab to the hypothalamus.

That is not saying that such a short, sharp shock was not ordered up for me. 

I fought some hard battles against the childkilling industry in my time, including one that shut down one of the largest abortionist training camps in the nation.  It was located in Wichita and run by the late Daniel Roberts, MD, out of the University of Kansas’ School of Medicine.  My team took it head on, headed up a national boycott of Wesley Hospital (one of the hosts) and used the robust exercise of First Amendment rights at a KU graduation to bring it all to a head.  It was disbanded.  I like to think that headlines like these are the natural result of such efforts.

Such efforts pay dividends –most all of them negative.  I received numerous death threats and was often accosted in public for the controversy I stirred up.  When I was appointed Deputy Attorney General over Consumer Protection in Kansas a mere ten years later Planned Parenthood and the cultural Marxists at the Kansas City Star went apoplectic!  I was tied to the media whipping post, repeatedly, as my Anne watched on — in her hometown.

She almost “cracked” through that pillorying of her husband.  We were pretty much left twisting in the wind after that socio-political lynching.  It took a psychological toll on both of us.

That toll was lessened for me once we relocated to the Fort.  Not so much for my Anne.  She waited patiently for me to get licensed in Indiana, at which time she was planning to exhale.

She is still waiting, still holding her breath, metaphorically speaking.

Such is the background.  In the next post I will endeavor to clear up some of the errors in her previous posts.  And after that I will explain why it makes some sense for Indiana to take some time processing my file.

As much as my Anne does not want to hear it, there is an excuse for the Hoosier delay.  That excuse will be explained in detail in the posts to follow in this series.  Some of it is my fault, friends.

Pray for my Anne and please continue to pray as she has requested.  There is yet a glimmer of hope, albeit quite slight, that she might get to exhale yet.  We are asking for Saint Thomas More’s assistance in this difficult matter.
